Valentino Garavani is an Italian couturier who had emerged from the shadows of Parisian fashion during the 1960’s. Jacqueline Kennedy, wife of former US President John F. Kennedy, was one of the powerful women who patronized Valentino’s design. And this goes way back when he was still a rookie in the fashion world. The famous lace-covered beige wedding gown he made for her became a successful couture piece, boosting his popularity all over the world.
After this phenomenal event, he continued to create elegant women’s formal wear and gowns for influential people of the 20th and 21st century. As such, occasions such as the red carpet events have drawn female celebrities in donning his one-of-a kind designs. Some Valentino fanatics include Evangeline Lily, who attended the Cannes Film Festival wearing an embroidered lace gown at the premier of Vengeance.
Anne Hathaway also wore one of his designs, which was a nude and intricately embroidered ball gown made of tulle. Anne wore this piece during the Costume Institute Gala last May 2010 in New York. The young actress looked especially stunning as the dress’ color highlighted her alabaster complexion and the cut featured her elegant shoulders.
Angie Harmon, meanwhile, wore a Valentino red, form-fitting gown with a ruffled train during the In Style Viewing Party at STK in Los Angeles. The dress made her look so chic that she started a trend in the succeeding red carpet events.
Fashion is constantly changing every season, but for those with the talent and creativity in creating clothes, it’s their vision becoming tangible.
