Question about tuxedo studs?
hey. i was just wondering exactly how studs are used on a tuxedo shirt. do they replace the plastic buttons? or are there special holes in tuxedo shirts which are used to hold studs?
Both, actually.
Tuxedo shirts have plastic buttons, but they also have a small hole in the fabric next to/behind the buttons. The studs go through this hole and through the top button hole, fastening the shirt in place of the button.
One can use the buttons on a tuxedo shirt in an emergency, but a gentleman would never pass up the opportunity to wear his shirt studs. They really do look dashing.
