Is a Charcoal tuxedo appropriate for groom if best man & groomsmen are in black tuxedos?
Groomsman would be in charcoal morning suit/cutaway, best man in black regular tuxedo, and rest of men in regular black tuxedos. Is “charcoal” dark enough, or is it light enough that the groom would look bad?
Forget color for a minute. What you have here is an absurd mish-mash of formalwear. Despite the unfortunate habit of rental shops calling all formalwear a “tux,” there are distinct categories.
While morning coats are correct for day wear, tuxedos are evening wear. The two should not be combined. If this is a day wedding, all the men should be in morning coats. If evening, they should all be in black tuxedos.
As long as the men are wearing the same type of formal clothing, the details need not match precisely.
