what are all ten gears for on a 1982 900 honda custom?
i am wondering what all ten gears are for on a 1982 honda 900 custom five down and five up? i think would be nice to know i am interested in buying one thanks eric…
The CB900 has a 5-speed gear box and two speed sub-transmission at a jackshaft in the drive line. There is not much point in trying to use it like a 10-speed gearbox. Leave it in low range around town, and shift into high range for highway work. Or as Wikipedia suggests, use the lower range, and just shift into high range in 5th for a tall highway gear.
I could see the usefulness of a dual range suspension in the right bike, but the CB900C has mushy suspension, horrible shaft jacking from the drive line and dorky cruiser styling with bad ergonomics, so the bike is now pretty much a novelty item.
