The question is: Veil or no veil?
If I wear a veil it has to be a birdcage style because that is the only kind i like.:)

My dress is a vintage 1940s cocktail-halter style, ivory and black with pearl buttons down the back. It is also knee length and has black crinoline sticking out that makes the skirt fuller…I added that last part.

I agree with the person who said to try a birdcage veil. They look very elegant, especially with a vintage inspired gown.
My opinion is that your headpiece or headpieces are just as important as your dress! You might feel like a princess when you put on your dress, but wearing a veil really makes you feel like a “bride”. With a shorter dress like yours, though, I’d definitely stick with a short veil, either a birdcage or a shoulder-length. You could also add some hairpins with feathers and antique rhinestone earrings (pin these in your hair with bobby pins- a really unique way to wear them!). Most people can’t wait to see the bride’s dress (and it sounds like yours is really something!). Wearing something in your hair helps to draw the attention to your face. You want the focus to be on your twinkling eyes and glowing smile, right?
I just got married (2-28) and I had a very simple, sophisticated ivory silk a-line gown. No beading, no lace, no embroidery. I made my headpieces: a chapel-length veil with a wide elaborate lace edge, a tufted champagne satin-covered headband with a vintage rhinestone necklace sticthed to it, and a few tiny rosebud hair pins. Sounds like a lot, but it really completed the look. To go with a simple veil would have been boring.
