What to Consider When Choosing a Tux Rental?
So you’re considering a tux rental instead of purchasing a formal suit for yourself? It’s a good choice. A tux rental will allow you to wear the latest style in tuxedo with just a small investment. If you were to buy a tux, you’d need to spend considerably more for a suit that may go out of style before you get a chance to wear it again.
If you’ve never worn a tux rental before, then you’re going to want to pay special attention to what the sales associates says about wearing it. There may be aspects to the formal suit that you won’t know how to put on correctly without this guidance. For example, special buttons and cufflinks can be a real challenge to use if you’ve never used them before. Watch how the sales associate knots the tie and puts on the cummerbund so that you’ll know what to do when you have to put the tux rental on yourself.
Try to get your tux rental about four to eight weeks before your wedding. This leaves lots of time to get the best selection possible as well as make your style choice. It also provides some time for any alterations if they’re required. Alterations are done about a week before you actually need the tux. After your wedding day, get a trusted friend or groomsmen to return the tuxedo to the store if you can’t make it yourself. You’re rarely required to dry-clean the rental, but you should still put effort into making sure it doesn’t get too dirty. You will be charged if the tux is damaged or if the return is excessively late.
If you can, it’s ideal to get a sales associate from your chosen tux rental store to measure you. This guarantees that you’ll get the best fit possible. There’s simply too much of a chance of getting the wrong measurements if you try to do the measuring yourself. Expect the associate the measure your chest including and excluding your arms. You’ll also be measured around your bottom and hips and around your naked waist at belt height. Your neck circumference will be measured to help fit you for a shirt and your sleeve length from the middle of your back will also be measured.
Finding a tux rental store isn’t difficult. You can simply do a search through the pages of your local phone book. Sometimes an online search will produce results too. If you’re doing an online search, make sure you narrow down your results to tux rental shops within your area. If you don’t, you’re likely to get a fabulous assortment of great stores that won’t be able to service you because you’re outside their service area.
It is better to choose rental shops in multiple locations, especially if you have multiple groomsmen that all need to be dressed the same way. This way you can be guaranteed that they’ll be enough identical tuxes to dress everyone the same. If a store has multiple locations, it’s easy for one store to get a tux rental from another store if they don’t have enough of the same style in stock.
